While it is most widely known for its wine and fruit, the 200ha estate is also ranked among the top three herb growers in the province.
Our herb production set-up consists of 33 hydroponic tunnels as well as a net house. From these structures more than 1.2 tons of herbs are harvested each week. We are a key supplier to major South African retailers including Woolworths , Pick ‘n Pay, Checkers, Fruit and Veg City and Spar.
Obviously our most important market is the various dining outlets at the Estate itself and where possible our chef tries to incorporate these healthy and fragrant ingredients in our menus.
The range of herbs we produce includes Sweet Basil, Coriander/Dhania, Dill, Fennel, French and Garlic Chives, Rocket (wild and cultivated), Rosemary, Sage, Mint, Thyme, Lemongrass, Oregano, Sorrel, Tatsoi (Spinach Mustard), Watercress, Tarragon and Chervil.
