It was a night of firsts for the team from Franschhoek Wine Estate Allée Bleue at the 2019 Platter’s Awards Ceremony when winemaker Van Zyl du Toit stepped up to collect his – and the farm’s – inaugural 5 star Platter’s award for the flagship red blend, L ’Amour Toujours 2014.

As van Zyl commented:  “To say that we are over the moon with this announcement is truly an understatement. Not only is it Allée Bleue’s first 5* Platter’s, but now I also have my first one under the belt, and it’s been sorely missed on my winemaking bucket list. We have of course been knocking at this door for some time and have garnered a host of 4½ stars to date, but this award now shows that the time and effort that we have been investing in our brand is paying off. I am sure that our loyal clients will be just as happy to share this achievement with us.”

“On a personal note, I`m am so thrilled, not only for what this means to our cellar, my teammates in the winery and our brand, but the nod we have received from the judges and the company we keep with our fellow winemakers who also received this accolade, really means a lot.”

Van Zyl continued to explain more about the making of the wine; “What makes this success even sweeter is the fact that we`ve won it for our flagship, the L`Amour Toujours 2014. A combination of meticulous sourcing of high-lying vineyards in the Banghoek Valley, made in a Cabernet Franc-driven style and the reds from the 2014 vintage really being exceptional, ensures that this accolade is turning out to be one of the highlights of my winemaking career. “

The wine is available in limited quantities of 12 bottles per client from the Allée Bleue tasting room at R225 each or from selected boutique retail outlets, hotels & restaurants nationwide.  Contact to arrange for your purchase or pop in at the Estate to pick up a few!
